Hey Carving Magazine™ Readers!

Here is another fantastic issue of Carving Magazine! We are so happy to be able to share all of this great carving info with you. One talented carver, Cesar Nogueira, carves from a very interesting medium - gemstones. Wes Demarest profiles some of Cesar's carving techniques and shows us a gallery of his beautiful carvings. Other photo galleries include inspiring carvings from the “International Woodcarvers Congress” (be sure to check out Ol' Don Burgdorf's great carving of the judges!) and two extremely detailed carvings by Mark W. Gordon (have you ever seen a carving made up of 98 different kinds of wood?).

We're lucky that Ivan Whillock and Ol' Don Burgdorf share their expert techniques with us once again, John Call shares his tool knowledge, and Joe Dillett completes his interesting feature on commissions. We also like to teach people about originality and how to carve something meaningful, and Marcia Berkall is just the person to share her insight. We're also pleased to see that carving is being taught to the younger generation, as shown in our profile of the Bubb family. Another interesting feature gives you a glimpse into a popular seminar, “The Doane Experience.” Be sure to check out the details about how our "Online Readers' Forum" works - and read how it has helped people.

We haven't forgotten the step-by-step project articles! William Earl Gray carves an adorable raccoon raiding a garbage can, Hugh Parks carves a beautiful, realistic tail feather from a Red-Tailed Hawk, Chris Whillock shows us how he designs a "freehand" sign, and Gen Jansen carves an interesting scene in cottonwood bark.

We hope you enjoy our latest issue!

Thanks for reading Carving Magazine! As always, I'd love to hear from you. If you'd like to see something that we haven't published, please let
me know!

Have an awesome day!!
