This cute puppy on the front cover is the fantastic work of Sandy Smith from Lakeview, Arkansas. This beautiful carving, titled "Dusty," measures 10" x 13" x 13".
At the prestigious 2008 International Woodcarvers Congress in Davenport, Iowa, Sandy won numberous awards for this piece, including two first-place ribbons, two judge's choice ribbons, and the Alice Vaughn Memorial Award. More winners from the show can be found on pages 73–75 in this issue.
