Carving size comments

Postby L.nadwodney » Tue Feb 12, 2008 7:55 pm

I am designing some new carvings. The feed back that I've gotten was the Santa, 2004 Chip Chats ,was an excellent size, and very popular...The German Santa, 2007 Nov / Dec issue of Chip Chats, at 14.5 inches, was too tall..Still a lot of good feed back from people that did carve... Wood was a problem...I have three patterns I want to finish asap and submit, they are 10.5,,,13.5,,,,and, 17.5 inches tall. Since the comment was made about wood, would it help to have a precut blank that you could buy? Can always ask a chop shop to take my patterns and do up blanks.. I've carved Santa figures from 4 inches to 54 inches..In fact, you want to help, one in the garage that size right now..Started it 6 yrs ago.. Got to weight more as the years passed? Any and all comments, from your style, what you want to carve will be greatly welcomed and appreciated.. Rather than annoy you all with my posts, I am just sitting back trying to churn out material, As ever, thank you all, cordially NAD
Life is a journey, what you get out of it is up to you.

Just my opinion but the 10.5 is probably best all around...anything bigger most of the time won't fit on shelves to display!
