I believe this is the group that started the canes..... I have made 3 or 4 and given them away. The problem is the Va...govt as usual! Because of their extreme attitude on privacy, they will not give you the names of vets that need the canes....just another "no common sense allowed here!" But I just give them to vets I meet that I think might need one. Same result, just not the guys just coming back that not only need a cane, but an uplift in spirit and a big "thank you!"

The Northern Virginia Carvers and the Capital Area Woodturners are in a joint effort to make eagle head canes for the local Vets as well.
I was just giving the "powers" in both clubs the dickens for not posting information and/or pictures for folks... all that got me was an invitation to be webmaster for both clubs!!!
We have a meeting on Wednesday, so I'll try to get a couple pictures of the eagle heads that John does...
Most definitely a worthy endeavour.

Like Dave, I have gave several to return local vets and have made several for older Vets in the family. Just a little bit that I can do to return a little something for those heros.
Personally, I want to thank Dave and any others who carve and give these canes to our Vets.
Maybe these jesters brings a little smile to these guys and gals.
