Just finished carving a 31 inch tall ,half figure of Victoria Woodhull. She was a gal born 9 miles up the road, in Homer ,Ohio. Spoke up for Woman's sufferage, free love, First gal to run for President with Fredrick Douglas as VP, in the 1870's.. Hillery is a poor second...The carving will be mounted on a clock work and come out the side of the Robbins Hunter Museum, in Granville..Wood and my time were donations..Since us odd balls need to stay busy, we have a rebuilt library, and I took in a trial carving that is the basis for a larger one to be planted in the Children's reading room..First "artist" to have their work accepted.. Again, another donation, and several more for food kitchens are under way.. I, also discovered the ultimate Foredom cutter..Took one of the cutters I sold, replaced the cutters on it with a different style, and it works like Chocolate and peanut butter for wood removal..Wood comes off at least twice as fast as any Kutzall tip, course dust, smooth cuts, great for relief, sculpture,,,don't know about ducks and birds,...Down side, I've got about ten cutters and they aren't being made anymore.Am going to put two away , find a show where I can demonstrate, and the tools will become legend..Some time ago, I was pounded on this site concerning" What is Art."...I enjoy learning, and don't mind being called names..There is a specific setting in which an item can be called art...........The last show I entered was with a carving called Midnight Dance Step..It was carved when I thought I was going blind..It got a second in the College show, and this year, the carving was chosen to be on the post card promoting this year's show. Implants have changed my whole life...If you need to tear someone down to feel important, that is your problem. If you allow the tearing down of a person, you have an even bigger problem.....Cordially Nad
