Black Beard The Fur Trader

Postby Mottles » Wed Jan 09, 2008 5:56 pm

Image
Basswood, 8 1/2 Inches Tall by 4" Across and painted with acrylics

This carving is based on a Mark Gargac Santa and revised to look more like a French Fur Trader of the 1800's.
I took a wood spirit carving class from Mark at Creede, CO. July of 2007, and highly recommend this wonderful carver and instructor.
Thank you for looking,
Kathy

:D Thank Gene, YES with your good instructions. Only thing is I had to resize and upload the image to my Home page as the one in my Woodcarving Gallery was to large for the 400 X 400 pixel requested by CM for the Gallery.
Glad you like my little carving, and thanks again Gene.

You are welcome and glad it worked out for you. It really isn't so hard, just a few steps that can be a little confusing when you first start.

Keep on posting them pictures.

Black Beard The Fur Trader

Postby Mottles » Thu Jan 10, 2008 9:20 am

 First of all, I gave this guy the wrong title originally--he actually is "Black Beard The Fur Trader." There really is another carving I did "Red Beard the Fur Trader." Got um mixed up in my little brain during the transfer. Now showing correction to the name.
Secondly, HiHo we both were a little, OK a lot challenged on how to upload images to this site. With the help of Gene, all came out well! Just a little friendly jab at ya and yuck, yuck on myself.
 Kathy

:D Thank you Lynn, nice to see you here, I do visit your blog, but just haven't left a comment. Thank you, for sharing your carving instruction with us all. I still haven't carved one of your horses yet, but it's on the ToDo list.

Kathy - one of your fur traders would make a super avatar for you, huh?
Give that a try :D
