My good friend has asked me to carve a sailor for him but he wants the old uniform (pre 1950) navy blue, flat top hat with ribbon.
Hopefully someone has seen one or maybe an old salt would have a picture they would be willing to share.

look up the Oar Carving site, I think his name is Ron Oar, he did a carving of a sailor in uniform..good one.. he has books out, he may have that in one or he may sell a roughout, you can contact him and see. Dave
