I'm being GOOD. For three weeks now I've been CLEANING and cleaning and cleaning. Can't carve so I clean and throw stuff away.
But I did buy one of those fancy "Square Perfect - Classic Series Photo Studio" things. The outfits that have lights, tripod, tents, backdrops, yadda yadda. Now I just have to try to figure out how to use them.

LOTS to learn with a small brain .............................

Image

And I'm still getting a fuzzy photo with my fancy stabilized digital camera ~sigh~

Does your fancy stabilized digital camera have a close-up function? If not, you might want to back away a bit, then use the zoom function.

And yes, it is awful quiet around here lately. My excuse? My grandson comes barging into my 'computer room' about 10 minutes after I get online, and I - like Mr. Squarebriggs (I think it was him that said it) - don't want to be known as the grand-dad that was too busy.

hmmmm -- it's a Canon PowerShot S2 IS 5MP 12X Optical Zoom. ( read that from the little slip of paper I have stuck in the case -- it tells me how to get the film thingy stuck in the computer too  )
When I try the "macro" thingy I get confused (that's easy  ) The zoom thingy is easier but first I have to adjust all the light thingys. Why all the adjustments?
Why all the WORK?
Where's my old Polaroid?

whitecree -- I think the fuzziness of that photo was due to ME being less stable than the stabilized camera could handle. ~blush~ I kinda' shake when I'm trying to use it and then, in addition, I was using that new photo tent thing.
I'm just too old for new things. Shucks -- I'm almost as old as HiHo.

Well, I'm just now running a google on your camera to see what you have.

(twiddles thumbs while waiting for slowpoke dialup.....)

Well, that was - vague. So far, it sounds like your camera has image stabilazation, which ought to take care of the twitchy hand syndrome. If that doesn't work, see if your camera has an 'action' setting, for taking pictures of people or things in motion, then use that setting.

(waiting for another search, twiddling thumbs once more....)

This just gets more and more irritating. Nobody wants to show me a picture or list actual features. Nuts!

All I can say is read the manual carefully, then go through all the camera menus, one item at a time. Sooner or later, you'll figure it all out. From what little I've been able to find, it sounds like a pretty powerful little gadget, and Canon has a reputation for making decent cameras/printers.

Err, you do have/use a tripod? :)

Husband bought me a tripod with the LAST camera he bought me --- I think that was ~blush~ #15 or 16. Now that Square Perfect Photo Studio has it's own tripod. That's one for the camera and one for me !!!

Seriously -- I really dislike using a tripod. I want to be able to move the camera up and down a couple of inches without fighting a stupid tripod. The space one uses is irritating. Just having to move one back and forth a couple of inches is irritating.

But do NOT get irritated yourself and say I'm a grumpy old woman. I am not grumpy and I am not old. OK?
*joke - I'm just teasing - honest*

It all depends...I personally consider anyone born prior to 1944 to be old, anyone born after 1944 to be young (as in "whippersnappers"), and those born during 1944 to be just right...your mileage may vary :D

Yes, I read it. I wonder if you brought that subject up with Marnie if she could discuss it with the other "powers that be". I didn't want to put that out here on the board for fear it might be taken the wrong way but you or Marnie can if you are so inclined.

Now you guys have got me curious. :?

Nancy, that is one sweet camera, although from some of the reviews I've run across, it isn't the easiest gadget to use.

I know tripods are a pain in the keester, but when using zoom or close up, you just sort of have to grit your teeth and bear with it if you want crystal clear pix. Maybe rest the camera against something steady (like a doorframe)?

For what it's worth, my wife once beat me senseless for even hinting a woman gets old, so never fear, I'd never say that about you. And if you want grumpy, just catch me someday when I haven't been able to get into the shop for a couple of days. :D

I think I just found my next camera...

Nancy....that is an outstanding Santa. Your style of beards always grabs my attention, they display so much character. The photograpgy is excellent, those set up's sound like just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately............if I spend any more on toys.......I'll be shot!! And believe me, being shot is no fun!!!
