Carving Magazine ideas!

Postby Marnie » Wed Jan 03, 2007 4:21 pm

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for your continued support of Carving Magazine! I sincerely appreciate seeing your posts here.

I would love to hear ideas about what you’d like to see in Carving Magazine - what kind of projects you’d like to do, which woodcarvers you’d like to see profiled, etc. I’d also like to hear which past projects were your favorites. I look forward to hearing from you!

We have some great things in the works – many interesting articles, some contests, and an online reader photo gallery to name a few.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions, ideas, or concerns: editors@carvingmagazine.com

Thanks again for your support of Carving Magazine!

I would love for some step by step articles for preditor birds. Especially owls.
Have you thanked a Veteran today?

Jim! Is that you? :D

How about something to do with northwest caost 1st nation carving styles and techniques? I've seen any number of works by people who want to carve in this style, but they also don't really know what it is they are representing. Perhaps including a short history or description of where each element comes from and spacing.

I've tried writing something like that a few times, but I always get lost in the details, get frustrated, toss it out, then try again.

Then I get lost in different details.

That's why I'm hoping somebody will come along and write one for me.

Getting into trouble - for me - is as easy as falling off a log. Which I've done more than once. And writing about it is about the only way I can think of to keep from kicking myself in the seat for being so silly as to do these things in the first place.

Errr - does that make any sense?

Okay, I'll crank up a new thread somewhere in here and post a short story of how my day went one day this past week.

I'm ready for all kinds of stories! My chair is pulled up - some nice hot orange tea ready...this will be fun!

Wouldn't it be great for a bunch of other people to start threads too? Tell how you begin preparing for a carving, tell us how you began carving in the first place, what are the silliest questions people ask, anything...

I love storytime! :D
