Finished this one recently, I need to go back in and woodburn the eyes. I think they are hard to see. I used that scoop out method, but with all the woodgrain I think they get lost. LOL
For a finish on the carving I used Watco Danish oil which brought out that beautiful warm tones of the Butternut. After the Danish oil I applied two coats of Deft Matt varnish let dry and used a brown paper bag to buff. Lastely, applied Watco neutral wax and buffed with a horse--hair shoe brush.

Very Very nice Kathy. Great expression, and real clean looking carving. What tools did you use? Knife, Knife and palm chisels, mallet chisels, etc?

Hi Tom H, thank you. I used all the tools you mentioned plus my power carver for roughing-out and shaping the cap and neck area.
