Emmett G. I agree... I've recently joined and checked the site several times only to discover that I'm the only one on. I wonder what happened. Nobody here.

You're right...its a slow post, but hopfully this will be worth the wait.

I did a brief Work In Progress (WIP) a while ago on another site. You can read it here... http://thestickman.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=755

Hope it helps

Hey, I agree. I joined the forum a month or so ago & haven't seen much activity, but to be honest I haven't posted anything either. Just wondered if anyone was out there. I belong to another forum where I'm classified as a "lurker". Has a nice ring to it doesn't it? :?

"Lurking" is one of the reasons the site has diminished, in my opinion. For example, I posted some photos in the gallery at the end of April; so far, they have received 63 views, but not one single comment. If I was a new carver (instead of being an old fogie) posting my first carving and asking for advice, I would be disappointed and maybe even irritated. I'm not particularly concerned, as I've posted the same photos on two other forums and got several comments there.

Comments about a post or photo can be constructive criticism. Don't tell someone a carving sucks - tell them what you think might be an improvement; if you think it's great, say so. Most people will willingly accept constructive criticism, but no one likes to be ignored. If you are not comfortable providing constructive criticism out in the open, then use a private message to the individual.

Hi Claude,
Yes, your are right & I'm guilty of not posting. I do enjoy viewing others' carvings & comments. I've learned a lot & have been inspired. I do need to post some pic of my carvings. Would like some constructive comments. First I need to actually take some pictures.
Have a great day,

"Most people will willingly accept constructive criticism"....I like to hear the criticism as long as it's not from A__ __ . who think he is so smart, as people learn there start to think that they are better ..and turn the nose up....I would think that this forum would be alive with all kinds of talk and what's going on, what I'm doing, and helping other's....so far it's just taking up a spot on Bookmarks.....guess I'll roll over and go back to sleep....I did get my instructions on spirit face's ..and should start soon

In all fairness Emmitt, you asked for some help... people responded. I think you are going to have to post some photos of how you are going with your carving before anybody can be of any further help to you. I'll look forward to seeing how you go.

I think the majhor problem here is the lack of a staff person to evaluate suggestions and then act on them when needed.

One real problem to me is the necessity for off site photo storage then inputting an address into the post so that they show up here. Also the color scheme is not very easy on the eyes. Other sites out there are constantly monotering their board and keeping it updated and listening...All this has abeen discussed plenty of times before and here we still are.Things need to be easy for a lot of us old folks in the computer operaton. Took me a lot of tries to get a picture to show up here.
God Bless You,
Terry

Hi Emmit,

How are you coming along with your wood spirit? How big is it going to be and what kind of wood are you using?

I just joined today and notice a couple of comments about how slow it is here. If everybody tries to join in and make an effort to support each other, it makes it more fun and interesting. I'll try to do my part.

I'll try to help you if I can.
